Insurance Fraud Today and What the Future May Hold
Course Number: Pending Approval | 3-Hour CE | 9 AM to 12 PM
Speakers: Frederick J. Fisher, JD, CCP and Michael G. Wagner
Insurance fraud is nothing new. It has been around as long as there has been insurance. Currently, thieves steal an estimated $80 to $300 billion a year fro Property Casualty insurers. This theft costs all other policy holders more than $300 a year, a piece.
This three-hour class will look at recent Hall of Famers. We will discuss what new forms fraud is taking; the dangers with the internet of things, and the various weapons provided by statutory law, legal precedent and professional claims handling to work to reduce the fraud and identify and prosecute the perpetrators.
We will also be looking at how new surplus line laws in California may open the door to fraud perpetrated by an unscrupulous insurer. There will be numerous takeaways such as how to best advise your clients and insure them for many of the issues raised.
